While Fall is just beginning, in terms of planning, 2024 is already here – and we’re happy to wrap up 2023 with many successes under our belt. These past 10 months have been a whirlwind of activity, globetrotting to attend industry events, technology conferences, and meetings with our partners and clients, both near and far. We’re thrilled to wrap up the year with numerous successes and exciting prospects on the horizon for the world of enterprise software.
One crucial takeaway from our experiences is the paramount importance of staying ahead of the curve in this era of digital transformation. As we look to 2024, two specific areas have captured our attention: Information Governance and Data Preservation.
Information Governance and Data Preservation: The Hot Topics
Information governance and data preservation are undeniably two of the hottest topics in the world of enterprise computing. In an age where data is the lifeblood of modern business, organizations are increasingly recognizing the need to safeguard and manage their information effectively. These trends have been a recurring theme in the conferences we’ve attended, and they are poised to remain at the forefront of the tech world in 2024.
This year, our journey took us to various events, including the International Conference on Digital Preservation (iPRES) in Champaign, Illinois; ARMA InfoCon in Detroit, the premier IG and records and information management conference; the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA) Annual Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio; two SHARE Technology Conferences, and two IDUG Tech Conferences.
While we’ve long supported industry conferences, this year, we decided to expand our horizons by attending two new-to-us information governance conferences: NAGARA and iPRES. These experiences have illuminated the immense potential for growth, collaboration, and innovation in this sector. We’re enthusiastic about increasing our presence and working closely with clients, prospects, and partners in this ever-evolving domain.
Challenges in Information Governance and Data Preservation
Professionals in these industries are currently navigating uncharted territories. The growing tapestry of data privacy legislation from agencies and governments worldwide has made it increasingly challenging to keep up. According to a recent report from FTI Consulting, 70% of respondents with information governance responsibilities reported that the cost of maintaining robust information governance has grown more expensive over the last year.
Simultaneously, organizations are under regulatory pressure to preserve pertinent business communications, often for legal compliance reasons, while also adhering to strict data minimization protocols in line with consumer protection and data privacy requirements.
These pressures are not new to information governance and data preservation professionals, but with the explosion of data post-COVID-19, they are mounting. The reputational and monetary costs of data breaches have also surged in recent years.
Events like NAGARA and iPRES provide valuable platforms for professionals to discuss how they are tackling these challenges. In today’s landscape, industry educational events and knowledge sharing are crucial for staying afloat.
Shaping the Future of Enterprise Computing
As we delve into planning for 2024 and beyond, we are drawing inspiration from the conversations we’ve had at industry conferences. These insights will shape our event planning for the coming year and our approach to product design and promotion. Our solutions are specifically designed to help professionals like those we’ve met at NAGARA and iPRES meet and exceed the challenges of their jobs. Together, we are confident that we can shape the future of enterprise computing, making it more efficient and secure.
